High-Speed Rail Link an essential investment - Thurso

12.00.00am GMT Mon 9th Feb 2004

Commenting on a report from the Commission for Integrated Transport calling for the development of a national high-speed rail link, John Thurso MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary, said:

"The Liberal Democrats have made it clear that a high speed rail link is an essential investment if Britain is to have the 21st Century transport network it needs.

"I therefore welcome the report from The Commission for Integrated Transport. The Government have a duty to think strategically for the long term and this should be the central feature of the current review."
