SCOTLAND: Green jobs opportunities for Scottish economy

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 15th Jun 2004

The Scottish Executive has asked the business community for its views on the Green Jobs Strategy.

Welcoming the latest developments in Scotland's first ever Green Jobs Strategy, Nora Radcliffe MSP, Scottish Liberal Democrat Environment spokesperson said:

"There is a massive opportunity for a green jobs revolution in Scotland. In particular renewable energy from our environmental resources offers a great opportunity.

"We are moving in the right direction, with ambitious renewable energy and recycling targets.

"Developing a green jobs strategy is a critical part of the green thread that the Liberal Democrats have delivered in Government. It is now up to the Executive and businesses to take this opportunity and develop a major green jobs sector in the Scottish economy."
