BAA should pay the vast majority of the policing costs of last month's climate camp

It has been revealed that it cost the Met police £7million to police the Climate Change camp at Heathrow last month.

Dee Doocey, Liberal Democrat policing spokeswomen on the London Assembly, said: "This is an astonishing amount of public money to spend protecting BAA property when they refuse to pay their fair share of policing costs at Heathrow in any case."

She said the Met and the Mayor should be demanding that BAA pay the vast majority of the costs of the exercise. [Daily Mail]
