Green Lib Dems at Autumn 2026 Conference
Climate, nature and a greener economy are at the heart of our Conference Fringe programme, and Green Lib Dems are bringing people together to debate, campaign and find practical solutions. From communicating the climate and nature crisis to tackling PFAS pollution, cutting energy bills, protecting our seas and giving nature a stronger voice, there’s a packed programme of events across this autumn’s Conference.
Whether you’re a councillor, campaigner, parliamentarian or just passionate about the environment, come along, get involved, and connect with the Green Lib Dem community. Read on for the full list of Green Fringe events you can take part in.
Saturday 19 September
Communicating the Climate and Nature Crisis
8.15–9.30pm | Alexandra Room, The Grand Hotel
How do we talk about climate and nature in ways that connect with people in rural, coastal and urban communities? Join Pippa Heylings MP, Wera Hobhouse MP, Cllr Steve Mason, Hayden Banks of Climate Outreach and Victoria Marsden of Friends of the Earth for a discussion about building trust, communicating the science and creating a shared sense of purpose.

Sunday 20 September
Beach Clean & Comb
9.15–10.15am | On the beach
(Preceded by a swim from 8.15–9.15am)
Start the day by celebrating and protecting our seas. Join Sir Ed Davey MP, environmental charity leaders and fellow Liberal Democrats for a beach clean and comb, following a swim organised by Surfers Against Sewage and Paddle UK.
With Marine Conservation Society and Rewilding Britain, the event will highlight why healthy seas matter, and why tackling pollution must be a political priority.
Local Climate Action Networking Breakfast
8–9am | Alexandra Room, The Grand Hotel
Start Conference by connecting with councillors, council leaders and parliamentarians, delivering climate and nature action locally. Hear from Pippa Heylings MP, our Energy Security and Net Zero Spokesperson, alongside speakers from Energy UK and UK100. Share ideas, discover what is working in communities around the country and strengthen Liberal Democrat leadership on climate and nature.
Open to all Liberal Democrat councillors, council leaders, parliamentarians and Conference attendees interested in local climate action.
Development and Deforestation: A Liberal Internationalist Response
12.15–1.15pm | Alexandra Room, The Grand Hotel
The climate and nature crisis doesn’t stop at our borders. Join Monica Harding MP, International Development Spokesperson, and Pippa Heylings MP to explore how cuts to international development are putting people and the planet at risk, and how global conservation organisations can help lead the fight against deforestation.
Forever Chemicals: PFAS, Health and the Environment
12.15–1.15pm | Gloucester Room, DoubleTree by Hilton
PFAS - often described as “forever chemicals” - are now found in our rivers, wildlife, food, drinking water and even human blood. Join Dr Roz Savage MP, Sarah Moore of Leigh Day and Dr Shubji Sharma of CHEM Trust to explore the growing global pollution crisis and the vital connection between environmental and human health.

Question Time: Energy Bills Edition

Climate action has to work for people struggling with the cost of living. Join Daisy Cooper MP, Deputy Leader and Treasury Spokesperson, for a live, interactive Question Time focused on Britain’s energy bills.
Test your knowledge in a smartphone quiz, hear the facts behind soaring bills and find out how the Liberal Democrats would tackle the cost of energy. Organised by Liberal Democrats for Nature & Climate and Green Lib Dems.
Climate and Nature Drinks Reception

Round off a packed day with a drink alongside the environmental voices shaping the future of climate and nature policy. Hear from Pippa Heylings MP about what the Liberal Democrats are doing to become Britain’s strongest political champions for the environment.

Communicating and Winning on the Environment

Environmental campaigning isn't just about having the right policies; it's about communicating them in ways that connect with voters. Join Green Lib Dems Chair Cllr Graham Neale and guest speakers for a practical session on communicating environmental issues, reaching wider audiences, avoiding common pitfalls and turning environmental concern into supporters, volunteers, campaigners and votes.

Rights of Nature: Why It Matters for Britain’s Future

What would it take to give nature a stronger voice in Britain? Join Dr Roz Savage MP, Paul Powlesland of Lawyers for Nature, Neil Williams of Rights of the Rivers network, Emma Montlake from Environmental Law Foundation, and Richard Benwell of Countryside Link, to explore how the Rights of Nature movement could build public support, inspire action and strengthen nature recovery.

Green Gas: At the Heart of the Green Economy

How can green gas help build a cleaner, stronger and more resilient Britain? Join Pippa Heylings MP (tbc), Vicky Grieve from East of England Network, Cadent, Lucy Hopwood from Alder BioInsights, and the Green Gas Taskforce, to explore the role of green gas in supporting rural communities, protecting key industries, decarbonising the gas network and building a thriving circular economy.
