Offsite 2007 exhibition - low carbon home
A rather impressive looking show home at the Offsite 2007 exhibition has been making headlines. Aside from being rather good looking, its also very green, being rated zero carbon. NB - it does achieve this in part burning wood chip, but that's fine, because the tree drunk that carbon while it was growing.
Also, it includes solar panels and passive cooling for the summer. Its also on three floors, which I think is the way to go, particularly with all the demand for housing. Bedrooms appear to be on the ground floor, which makes a lot of sense, because the ground floor is cooler.

From what I can work out, 'offsite' refers, simplistically, to kit homes, made in a factory. Its unusual in the UK, but Grand Designs has educated me that in Europe (and the US, IIRC) its commonplace. You wouldn't, for example, bundle Huf in with MFI.
