TORY TRANSPORT POLICY ON ROAD TO NOWHERE

6 Oct 2003

Commenting ahead of the Conservative Conference debate on transport, Don Foster MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary, said:

"Tory plans to become the 'motorists' friend' will backfire. Plans to build Britain out of congestion won't work. They were rightly rejected by Conservatives under John Major, but Iain Duncan Smith's Conservatives haven't learnt.

"It is no wonder over a quarter of people think British transport would get worse under the Tories.

"On transport, the Tories are not even in the slow lane, they have broken down on the hard shoulder."
